Objective:
Summary/Accomplishments (Outputs/Outcomes):
As of the end of the project period through the one-year no-cost extension (12/31/16) we have completed study #2 of project 1. We completed enrollment of 50 participants to undergo a panel study assessing the effect of ambient level PM2.5 exposures (measured at the community and personal-level) on cardio-metabolic health outcomes. Each participant completed 2 separate 24-hour long personal exposure assessments during 2 separate weeks of the study while ambient community monitoring of PM2.5 levels occurred continuously during the 2 separate study weeks. Health outcomes including the primary outcome of blood pressure (BP) were measured on 2 separate days per study week (4 times in total per subject). This study design yielded 2 personal PM2.5 exposure associations per study subject (100 in total for the study) with a one-day lag period structure to health outcomes. This also yielded 4 ambient-level associations per subject with health outcomes (200 in total for the study) with a 1 to 7 day lag structure. All health outcome measures and exposure monitoring procedures (as delineated in the study protocol) were completed in accordance with the study design without deviation from the protocol, pitfalls, or adverse events reportable to IRB.
Since the end of the last period year, we have completed all analyses of the study data in regards to the primary and main study outcomes. We have completed analyses in regards to numerous secondary outcomes. We have completed manuscript preparation of 2 papers which are currently in the submission phase for review of publication in journals.
