Abstract |
A combined experimental and modeling approach was conducted within the framework of the hazard assessment methodology developed at the EPA Environmental Research Laboratory Narragansett. Experimentation was conducted to characterize Middlesex soil in terms of particle size distribution, specific gravity, radioactivity, and soluble phase equilibria. In addition, dynamic settling velocity distributions were measured. The data derived from the experimental work were synthesized using a modeling approach that emphasized the vertical convective-diffusive transport of a polydispersed suspension of particles. |
