Objective:
The major research objectvies are:
1. To curate and link longitudinal, geo-coded, measures of PM2.5 and heat metrics, chemical and non-chemical exposures from the natural, built, and social environments, and data on inherent personal characteristics, activities/behaviors among participants in the SCCS, with clinical measures of cardiovascular health outcomes, and population measures of CVD disparities.
2. To use advanced graph-theoretical computational tools, augmented with more conventional biostatistics, to elucidate latent, combined, cumulative and interactive relationships between measures of PM2.5, heat metrics, environmental exposures, personal characteristics and activities/behaviors with cardiovascular health outcomes and disparities among SCCS participants across the southeast.
3. To model the mechanisms and pathways through which multiple, interactive and cumulative risks for PM2.5 and heat metrics, chemical and non-chemical stressors from the natural, social, and built environments and personal characteristics and behaviors adversely impact the progression of cardiovascular health outcomes among SCCS participants and population-level health disparities by race and gender across 12 southeastern states.

Research Progress:
- Co-investigators continue to meet via weekly Zoom videoconferences (Thurs at 3:00 - 4:30 pm CST).
- Southern Community Cohort Study participants residential addresses were linked to 3-km PM2.5 grid cells. Public Health Exposome data and Southern Community Cohort Study survey data at enrolment linked.
- Approximately 1,000 additional environmental variables added to the public health exposome data base
- Meta-data dictionary updated
- All missing data were recoded as 777777. Meta-data updated to reflect the change.
- Heat metrics data curated. Data includes daily minimum/maximum temperature and heat index at a 1-km grid for the 12 southeastern states. Crosswalks completed from 1 km to 3 km (PM2.5) gridded data.
- Updated Area Health Resource File metadata
- Research sampling methods and design finalized to link PHE and SCCS data.
- Completed and Disseminated Data Use Agreement

Future Activities:
A. Future Research Activities:
- Link 24,000 public health exposome, PM2.5, and heat metrics data (daily, 1-km gridded data of minimum/maximum temperature and heat index) to SCCS survey data at enrollment.
- Link longitudinal public health exposome, PM2.5, and heat metrics to 4 waves of SCCS survey data. (2002-2019).
- Conduct undifferentiated combinatorial analytics to identify paracliques in combined PHE/PM2.5/heat metrics/SCCS survey data
- Incorporate Medicaid/Medicare claims data into data base/analyses.
- Incorporate Death Index files into data base/analyses.
- Engage post-doctoral fellows and graduate students in research activities.
- Annual investigator meeting is being planned. It tentatively will he held Aug. 12-13, 2019 in Columbus, OH.

- Analyze the relationship between public health exposome, PM2.5, heat metrics, and SCCS surveys using combinatorial analysis for: CVD, Stroke and Diabetes (led by RO Valdez, M Langston, and G Rogers)
- Model spatial temporal relationships between environmental exposures and CMD among SCCS participants (led by PD Juarez, L Li, and W Im)
- Analyze the relationships between social determinants and Cardio-metabolic Disease outcomes (led by C Colen)
- PHE, medication adherence, and CMD among SCCS participants (led by M Donneyong)
- Use survival analysis to analyze the relationships between environmental exposures and CMD outcomes among SCCS participants (led by M Tabatabai)
