Abstract |
The Mouse Lymphoma ( L5178Y/TK+/-) Mutagenesis Assay was used to determine the potential of high drop point lithium hydroxystearate grease (XRR 185A) to induce mutations in mammalian cells grown in culture. This assay is a sensitive indicator of the mutagenic potential of compounds from a wide variety of chemical classes. Furthermore, it has the advantage of detecting several classes of carcinogens that are weakly mutagenic or non-mutagenic in the Ames Salmonella/ mammalian microsomal activation assay. |
