EPA's Ecological Risk Assessment Support Center (ERASC) announces the release of the final report, Summary Report. Separating Anthropogenic Metals Contamination from Background: A Critical Review of Geochemical Evaluations and Proposal of Alternative Methodology. This technical paper relates to the issue of background soil chemical demarcation at metals contaminated sites.

EPA's Office of Land Management and Emergency Management (OLEM) announced the availability of updated Regional Screening Level (RSL) tables. The New Tables were generated to reflect changes in the toxicity and chemical-specific parameters as per the RSL hierarchies.

EPA announced the release of the draft document, Systematic Review Protocol for the PFBA, PFHxA, PFHxS, PFNA, and PFDA IRIS Assessments (Preliminary Assessment Materials), for a 45-day public review and comment period. The protocol presents the methods for conducting the systematic reviews and dose-response analyses for development of a draft IRIS assessment for five per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) assessments including: perfluorodecanoic acid (PFDA; CASRN 335-76-2), perfluorononanoic acid (PFNA; CASRN 375-95-1), perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA, CASRN 307-24-4), perfluorohexanesulfonic acid (PFHxS, CASRN 355-46-4), and perfluorobutanoic acid (PFBA, CASRN 375-22-4), and their related salts which are all members of the group per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

EPA announced the release of the draft document, IRIS Assessment Plan (IAP) for Inorganic Mercury Salts (Scoping and Problem Formulation Materials), for a 30-day public review and comment period. The IAP will be discussed with the public on December 5, 2019 at an IRIS Public Science Meeting (Webinar). More information on this event can be found by visiting the public meeting website. EPA announces the availability of the All-Ages Lead Model (AALM), Version 2 software with updated supporting documentation (External Review Draft). The AALM Model is scheduled to undergo an independent peer review by EPA's Science Advisory Board in October 2019. EPA is announcing the availability of the final report, Application of the Sea-Level Affecting Marshes Model (SLAMM) to the Lower Delaware Bay, with a Focus on Salt Marsh Habitat. This report presents future projections of change for seven salt marsh areas of the Delaware Bay, using the SLAMM model.

EPA announced the availability of a Provisional Peer-Reviewed Toxicity Value (PPRTV) Assessment for 2-Ethylhexanol (CASRN 104-76-7). Subchronic and chronic provisional RfDs, subchronic and chronic provisional RfCs, and a provisional oral slope factor were derived in this assessment.

EPA announced the release of the IRIS Program Outlook Update (April 2019) on the IRIS website. The April 2019 update lists IRIS Assessments that are currently in development, assessments that have been discontinued or suspended, and projected public milestone(s). This update comes after the release of the first Program Outlook notice announced in December 2018.

EPA announces the availability of the Systematic Review Protocol for the Hexavalent Chromium IRIS Assessment (Preliminary Assessment Materials) for a 45-day public comment period. EPA announced an update to Chapter 3 (Water and Other Select Liquids) of the Exposure Factors Handbook (2011 Edition). This update includes new information and factors on non-chemical-specific information used to assess human exposure to environmental contaminants that has become available since the 2011 Edition was released.
