Abstract |
This study is an analysis and comparison of three alternative discharge locations for the North Shore subregional wastewater treatment facility. It addresses the acute, local impacts on fish that result from immediate effluent dilution in the vicinity of the outfall. Three alternative sites are located 45 to 55 miles upstream in the San Francisco Bay estuary in an area dominated by tidal flow. There is variable salinity and semidiurnal tidal change resulting in alternating upstream and downstream currents which alternate every 6 1/4 hours. |
