Abstract |
The WMAC team at the University of Louisville performed an assessment at a plant that manufactures paints and coatings. Raw materials are received and staged appropriately for batches of product. Processing in this plant includes mixing of raw materials, filtering, pumping and milling. The team's findings and recommendations indicated that the plant generated waste wash water and solvent from equipment cleaning in large quantities and that significant waste reduction and cost savings could be achieved by removing more of the product from the letdown tanks prior to cleaning them. |
