Abstract |
An Environmental Planning Manual for Salinity Management in Irrigated Agriculture has been prepared. The primary focus of this manual is a delineation of the combinations of technological and institutional solutions, the various levels of planning effort, use of existing data and necessary field investigations which are required for the different planning levels, methods of data analysis, technological and socioeconomic considerations in implementing a salinity control program, and finally, recommendations for formulating an action program. It is intended that the primary audience for this manual would be environmental planners such as EPA Regional Offices, state water pollution control agencies, regional councils of governments, and 208 planning groups. In addition, it is intended to serve as a guide to be used and tailored at the discretion and guidance of the supervisory personnel to persons withour prior training or experience in assessing the nonpoint source pollution problems of irrigation return flows due to salinity. |
