Abstract |
This study examines the effects of indoor water conservation induced wastewater flow reduction in selected areas in California. The effects are quantified in economic terms by viewing the net economic gain to a hypothetical community which characterizes average statewide conditions. In addition, the major benefits and costs of indoor water conservation and a perspective of their relative values are presented. Various municipal wastewater dischargers that experienced actual flow reduction during the 1976-77 drought in California provided data on the operation of their collection and treatment systems prior to, during, and after the drought. |
