Abstract
The report gives results of a study of energy consumption in the chemical industry. It analyzes energy-intensive steps or operations for manufacturing processes which produce 12 of the top 50 volume chemicals in the U.S. Results of the analyses are in the form of energy consumption block diagrams, energy-intensive equipment schematic diagrams, and tables that indicate the causes of energy losses, as well as possible conservation approaches.
