Abstract
The current state of the art in water resource systems analysis was critically assessed. The study focuses on the actual application and implementation of systems analysis techniques to water resources. That is, examples of where systems analysis has been actually used in the planning, design and/or operation of a particular water resource system are analyzed. The study includes assessment of recent publications in the areas of hydrologic, surface water, ground water, desalination and water quality systems. Topics discussed also involve urban water resources systems analysis; ecology and life sciences as it applies to water resources systems analysis; the integration of economic, political, legal, social and institutional factors into water resource systems analysis; and other pertinent topics.
