Abstract |
The objectives of the research were to quantitatively determine naturally occurring human enterovirus levels in a raw drinking water source and to determine the capability of various water treatment unit processes to remove and/or destroy these viruses. Using batches of Missouri River water, the study determined the effectiveness of the water disinfectants; chlorine, chloramine, chlorine dioxide and ozone, in inactivating naturally occurring enterovirus. An evaluation of the effectiveness of individual physical removal processes, independently, for the removal of virus was made. |
