Abstract Superfund resources are currently being spent to clean up many uncontrolled hazardous waste sites. Pursuant to requirements stipulated in Section 105 of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) of 1980, the cost-effectiveness of remedial action alternatives must be evaluated. The report was developed to aid in evaluating the added costs incurred on a hazardous waste site due to worker health and safety considerations. Cost estimates include both base construction costs (which would be incurred if no hazardous wastes were involved), and costs at each of four degree-of-hazard conditions. The degree-of-hazard conditions are patterned after the four levels of personal protection which have been established for workers on hazardous waste sites. The impact of temperature variations is also estimated. Separate cost estimates are presented for transportation and disposal.
