Abstract |
The project was designed to provide baseline demographic data and trends for the populations of the 33 county North Carolina portion of the Albemarle-Pamlico Estuarine Study (A/P Study) area. Two types of populations are identified. The first is the permanent population which is the count of people for whom a particular community is their usual place of residence. The second is the temporary recreational population, more specifically, the count of the overnight tourist population. The total estimated population for a community is the sum of the permanent population and the overnight population. The estimates were developed using the county as the unit of analysis. Year-round population counts are available for census years. Post-censal population counts use the estimates developed by state and federal agencies using a combination of methodologies. |
