Abstract |
An EPA Subcommittee concluded that current research efforts are well focused in view that they appropriately address a number of scientific issues that currently confront the EPA Office of Drinking Water. The caliber of the research personnel and the quality of the individual research projects were viewed as being generally high. Current research efforts presented to the Subcommittee focused almost exclusively in the area of chlorination and the by-products resulting from the treatment process. The Subcommittee's major recommendation is that more attention be devoted to the potential toxicity problems that could arise from alternatives and/or adjuncts to chlorination. |
