Abstract |
The feasibility of probability sampling in describing quality of rural water not affected by point sources is examined. The study site was a portion of the Chowan River Basin in Virginia and North Carolina. Flow was measured along with dissolved oxygen, temperature, conductivity, and pH. All samples were analyzed for nitrate plus nitrite nitrogen, total Kjeldahl nitrogen, total phosphate and chloride. Flow was highly variable in time and space; concentration was less so. |
