Abstract |
The impact of diesel-powered vehicles in the central business districts of New York, Chicago and Los Angeles was studied. Annual particulate matter emissions from automobiles, taxis, buses and light-duty trucks were projected to the year 2000. The emissions were correlated with air monitoring data in order to calculate the impact on air quality. Significant increases were predicted in atmospheric particulate matter because of increased diesel engine use. |
