Abstract |
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has concluded its reregistration eligibility decision for chloroneb and determined that the chemical is eligible for reregistration provided that: (1) current data gaps and additional data needs are addressed; (2) the risk mitigation measures outlined in this document are adopted; and (3) labelamendments are made to implement these measures. EPA has also reassessedtolerances for chloroneb. The 24 tolerances for chloroneb are now considered reassessed as safe under section 408(q) of FFDCA, as amended by FQPA. EPA has completed its review of the public comments on the chloroneb risk assessments and is issuing its risk management decision. The risk assessments are based on review of the available data base supporting the use patterns of currently registered products and additional information received. After considering the risks identified in the risk assessment, comments, and mitigation suggestions from interested parties, EPA developed its risk management decision for uses of chloroneb that pose risks of concern. Chloroneb (1,4-dichloro- 2,5-dimethoxybenzene) is a fungicide currently registered for use on a wide variety of food crops but is primarily used for pre-plant cottonseed treatment as well as on commercial turf and ornamentals. |
