Abstract | Increasingly, attention is centered on estuaries in Mississippi. Data are presented from an investigation of the Pascagoula estuary. The estuary extends inland about 42 river miles. Bottom profiles of the main channels of the Escatawpa, East Pascagoula, West Pascagoula, and Pascagoula Rivers were made using a recording fathometer. Tide gages were installed to determine the range in tide in the estuary, to determine times of low and high tides, and to assist in estimating how far upstream tides affect the water-surface elevation under average conditions. |
