Abstract | The EPA has identified 1,245 hazardous waste sites as the most serious in the Nation. These sites comprise the National Priorities List; sites targeted for cleanup under Superfund. but site discoveries continue, and the EPA estimates that, while some will be deleted after lengthy cleanups, this list, commonly called the NPL will continue to grow by approximately 50 to 100 sites per year, potentially reaching 2,100 sites by the year 2000. |
