Abstract |
A study involving the application of the active carbon absorption and elution technique for concentration of organic compounds in water was made in the South Chicago area of Lake Michigan. This study demonstrated the importance of this technique for the concentration of organic materials and the useful application of organic group separation, elemental analysis and infrared spectroscopy to the adsorbates in studying a water pollution problem. The use of sulphur as a naturally occurring tracer element for selected wastes is indicated. |
