Abstract | This Position Document 1 (PD 1) is the official announcement that EPA is initiating a special review of all pesticide products containing the active ingredient Triphenyltin Hydroxide (TPTH). EPA has determined that TPTH, which is registered as a fungicide and mite suppressant, produces teratogenic effects in rats and that sufficient exposure to applicators exists to meet the risk criterion as described in 40 CFR 162.11, the regulations governing the Special Review (RPAR) process. Only after carefully considering the risks and benefits of TPTH and determining that the pesticide will cause unreasonable adverse effects on man or on the environment, will EPA issue a notice of intent to cancel. |
