Abstract |
The study was designed to examine the disinfection process at low temperatures because effleuent in the Arctic and Subarctic can be expected to be in the 0 to 10C range during a significant portion of each year. Disinfection was considered effective if the effluent contained no more than 1000 total and 200 fecal coliforms/100 ml. Total chlorine residual was monitored with the orthotolidine and iodometric methods, and the menbrane filter method wad used for all bacteria enumeration. |
