Abstract |
This report presents the results of a demonstration of the effectiveness of debris basins in controlling solids in water discharging from surface mine operations. A site in Eastern Kentucky was selected for study in an area where very little erosion-causing activity has occurred and where surface mining was to be initiated. An adjacent 'virgin' watershed was also selected to provide background data on water quality where man's activities have been very limited. |
