Abstract |
An eddy accumulator offers an appealing approach to measuring fluxes of species for which fast-response sensors are not available. The device accumulates trace atmospheric species into an updraft sampler and a downdraft sampler at rates proportional to the vertical wind speed. The flux of the species is related to the difference in mass collected. The device was operated during the Dry Deposition Intercomparison Study at Champaign, Illinois in June 1982 and collected samples for water vapor and sulfate flux determination. A general description of the device and its operation at the field site are given along with a description of the analysis methods for determining fluxes. |
