Abstract |
The paper gives results of the mitigation of radon in two four-story dormitories. During a survey of campus buildings, a western university identified two four-story dormitories with several rooms on the lowest level with radon levels above the EPA guidelines of 4 pCi/L. EPA's Air and Engineering Research Laboratory joined an experienced radon mitigator and the university to develop mitigation systems to reduce these levels. The diagnostic process is discussed and the development of the very different solutions needed for the two buildings is presented. Short-term test results are presented which show the success achieved. |
