Abstract | The report addresses the application of agricultural processing wastes, industrial and municipal wastes (i.e., sludges and wastewaters) on agricultural land as both a waste management and resource recovery and reuse practice. The document emphasizes the 'treatment' and beneficial utilization of sludge and wastewater as opposed to waste disposal. These objectives are achieved through incorporation into well-designed and operated agricultural production systems in ways that are compatible with maintaining the soil's normal viability and productivity. Waste characterization, crop selection and management, site selection, management and monitoring are addressed in a manner designed to lead readers logically through the decision making process. |
