Abstract | Dilution of effluent from the Richardson Bay Sanitation District sewage treatment plant in San Francisco Bay was measured with fluorescent dye. Rhodamine WT dye was added to the effluent at a continuous rate and its concentration in the receiving water monitored daily until a steady state was achieved. Dilution contours were drawn for both high and low slack waters, and flushing time was measured after cessation of dye injection. Algal growth potentials were measured for various effluent concentrations. |
