Abstract
Americans use two billion gallons a year of lubricating oils and grease. Only 100 million gallons of this is recovered by recyling and re-refining. By contrast Japan recycles 70 pct of its lubricants. West Germany, supposedly, does an even better job of putting its 'waste' oil back to work.
