Abstract
The Office of Research and Development (ORD) Strategic Plan is based on nine principles: (1) Focus research on the greatest risks to people and the environment, (2) Focus research on reducing uncertainty in risk assessment, (3) Balance human health and ecological research, (4) Work for customers and clients, (5) Maintain strong core capabilities, (6) Support the development of outstanding scientists, engineers, and other environmental professionals, (7) Increase competitively awarded research grants, (8) Require independent peer review and quality assurance, and (9) Maintain an outstanding program of research and development.
