Abstract |
The report describes and discusses the occurrence and spatial and temporal variability of persistent brown and red tide nuisance algal blooms occurring within the upper Laguna Madre and the adjacent bays and estuaries throughout the Corpus Christi Bay National Estuary Program study area. Probable causes of the events were proposed and discussed. A comparison of the Texas brown tide with similar brown tide events occurring in other coastal systems were made. Ecological and environmental effects of the blooms are also addressed. |
