Abstract |
An intensive chemical and biological survey of Liberty Bay, Washington, was launched by EPA, Region X, in September, 1975, following reports of heavy metal contamination of the Bay's surface waters. The survey was designed to obtain information on levels of heavy metals and other possible toxicants in seawater, wastes, sediments, fish and shellfish from selected sites in Liberty Bay and other Puget Sound waters. Also sought was toxicological data on the acute effects of those waters and sediments on the development and survival of embryos of the Pacific oyster, Crassostrea gigas. |
