| Abstract |
The report is to serve as a companion to an analogous document on soil sampling quality assurance. Prior to the design of an adequate quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) plan for sediment sampling, there must be agreement on the objectives of the sampling program. Answers to the following questions should be available: How will the resulting data be used to draw conclusions. An overview of selected sediment models is presented to serve as a foundation for stratification of study regions and selection of locations for sampling sites, methods of sampling, and sample preparation and analyses. Discussions of situations relating to rivers, lakes, and estuaries are included. |
