Abstract |
The Information Collection Rule requires some treatment plants to conduct disinfection byproduct (DBP) precursor removal studies evaluating either granular activated carbon (GAC) or membrane processes. However, under section 141.141 (e) (3) (iv) of the ICR, there is a provision that treatment plants are not required to conduct precursor removal studies if the plant is using full-scale GAC or membrane processes that meet certain criteria. The purpose of this notice is to provie guidelines for demonstrating effective precursor removal and to clarify how EPA will assess the effectiveness of precursor removal. |
