Abstract |
This manual provides a clear explanation of the concept of a toxic substance, the biological and ecological effects of such substances, and the risks associated with their use. The federal laws which govern the manufacture, distribution, use, discharge and disposal of toxic and hazardous materials are identified and explained. Detailed guidance for citizen actions is also provided, along with an actual case study which develops a general method for pinpointing and studying sources most likely to pose health and environmental risks because of toxic discharges into waterways. |
