Abstract |
The purpose was to establish an instrument network for calibrating the North Fork Experimental Watershed. The watershed was previously designated by the School of Forestry as an outdoor hydrologic laboratory. Three major components of the hydrologic budget are emphasized in this study: (1) precipitation, (2) streamflow, and (3) groundwater discharge. A network of twenty-five rain gages, both recording and non-recording were used to determine precipitation intensity and distribution. The isohyetal and arithmetic methods for a real averaging of precipitation were compared. A comparison was also made of radar precipitation estimates with the precipitation records. (Author) |
