Abstract |
The 2.5-acre Drum Dump site is a grass-covered clearing in the Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County, Pennslyvania. Between 1974 and 1978, approximately 600 drums of unknown contents from an unknown source were stored in the southeast corner of the site. In 1978, approximately 2 years after the sale of the site by the J.E.M. Partnership to LandMark, one of the partners of the J.E.M. Partnership arranged for the removal of the drums from the site at the request of LandMark. From 1983 to 1987, several investigations, monitoring events, and interim measures were completed at the site. It was concluded that some drums may have been buried onsite and that the contents of some of the drums stored there previously may have been dumped onto the ground. Current onsite investigations revealed that any previously identified site contaminants now have been reduced to levels that no longer pose a significant direct health threat or any threat from potential migration in ground water; and thus, the site does not warrant any further remediation. |
