Abstract |
The report examines the importance of dust properties in determining dust penetration through a fabric filter. The major property considered is the size distribution of the dust, which is an important dust property for dust penetration. Most other important variables of dust penetration depend more on the dust/fabric combination than on the dust alone. The report reviews dust penetration mechanisms and relates them to dust and dust/fabric properties. It illustrates these interactions, using data both generated in EPA's inhouse laboratory and published in the open literature. Shaker and pulse-jet baghouse data are used in an attempt to identify commonality in dust penetration independent of fabric cleaning technique. |
