Abstract |
The report contains a description of a full-scale demonstration of a silicate stabilization process that was conducted at the Tamco Steel plant in Rancho Cucamonga. Soil contaminated with lead, zinc, and cadmium was treated with a polysilicate/portland cement mixture to reduce leachable metal concentrations. The process, commonly known as the Trezek or Lopat process, was demonstrated by Solids Treatment Systems, Incorporated using a modified, portable, continuous output concrete mix plant to treat approximately 160 tons of soil. All leachable metal concentrations were reduced to below their hazardous waste thresholds. |
