Abstract |
The manual is principally concerned with the establishment of vegetation on construction sites where soils are infertile or of low productivity, and which thus present an especially difficult challenge to prevent sediment runoff. It is quite apparent that vegetation can be successfully established only if certain minimum site requirements are met and that success can be achieved much more readily if the minimum requirements are exceeded. For these reasons, this manual presents minimum standards that define the least favorable allowable site and/or soil condition which is judged to be acceptable for establishment of vegetation. The functional purpose of this vegetation is to protect, quickly as well as permanently, the exposed soil surfaces against erosive and mechanical deteriorations. |
