Abstract |
Information is presented on the suitability of soils in Harding County, New Mexico for irrigation. The acreage, general location, and relative capability of the soils for use in irrigated agriculture are given. The irrigation land classes were estimated on the basis of the soil data available. The data were organized and presented on the basis of soil associations shown on a general soil map and on an irrigation land classification map. Harding County has about 1,368,300 acres, of which about 67 percent was considered suitable for irrigation. Information is provided on soil resources that can be used for preliminary planning for irrigated agriculture, forestry, range, urban, engineering, recreation, and wildlife uses. A general soil map and a classification of land for irrigation map are included. (Author) |
