Abstract |
The Environmental Fate Data (EFDB) is a data bank containing data or pointers to data on physical/chemical properties and environmental fate of several thousand chemicals. It was designed to provide an easily accessible source of information useful for describing the environmental behavior of chemicals. EFDB consists of 5 interrelated files: CASLST is a listing of CAS Registry Numbers, molecular formulae, and names for chemicals included in the other tapes (Except for XREF). They are linked by CAS Registry Number; DATALOG provides a pointer to various data reported in the open literature pertaining to environmental fate of chemicals. A reference number of up to six digits links this file to the XREF file, below, to provide the full journal citation; BIOLOG provides a pointer to data on microbial degradation or toxicity reported in the open literature pertaining to particular chemicals. A reference number of up to six digits links this to the XREF file, below, to provide the full journal citation; CHEMFATE is a file containing actual literature-derived data pertinent to the environmental fate of several hundred chemicals, from a diverse group of chemical classes. Each record is a miniature paper, with a summary, results, and experimental conditions. A reference number of up to six digits, below, to provide the full journal citation; BIODEG is an experimental value file, like CHEMFATE. It contains, for each of several hundred chemicals, (1) summaries of all available mixed culture biodegradation studies; (2) summary judgements of biodegradability based on this literature; and (3) judgements of the reliability of the summary biodegradability codes. A reference number of up to six digits links this to the XREF file, below, to provide the full journal citation; XREF provides complete citations for the journal articles referenced in the other tapes. |
