Abstract |
Potential health problems associated with eating contaminated shellfish are well recognized (citation). Concern for human exposure to pathogenic bacteria and viruses associated with sewage has lead to the closure of many shellfish beds in coastal Massachusetts. These closures are enforced by local authorities as well as the Massachusetts Environmental Police. |
