Abstract |
A survey of vinyl chloride emissions from the American Chemical Corporation and B.F. Goodrich Chemical Company showed that vinyl chloride monomer was leaving the plants via water, sludge, and air as well as in the final product, polyvinyl chloride. It is estimated that about 2.3 kg (5 lb)/day of PVC leave the B.F. Goodrich plant, and 10 kg (22 lb)/day leave the American Chemical plant in the wastewater effluents. Smaller quantities were found in the sludge. The report presents a plant evaluation and a sampling program. |
