Abstract |
The paper gives results from a microbiological screening study of noncomplaint five-story office building in Florida, conducted to generate baseline data that could be used as part of a study of the impact of ventilation system design and operation on microbiological contamination. The study was part of a research program into the impact of increased outdoor air rates. The field study was conducted over a 2-day period in the spring of 1994. Microbiological sampling included bioaerosol, bulk material, heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning condensate, and floor dust measurements. The overall impression of the building was that of a clean well-maintained structure. Although most of the sampling results were consistent with those of a non-problem building, the analyses demonstrated possibly elevated with those of non-problem building, the analyses demonstrated possibly elevated level of Penicillium at two sites within the building. |
