Abstract |
The Forest Research Database, which contains information pertinent to the Northwest (President's) Forest Plan and other ecological issues in the Pacific Northwest and northern California, was created under a contract to the U.S. Environmenal Protection Agency in Corvallis, OR for the interagency Regional Ecosystem office (REO) in Portland, OR. Database design and strategies for obtaining data to populate the database were coordinated by the REO Research and Monitoring Committee. The database was created both to obtain an overview of ongoing and planned research in the region from which to develop an interagency research plan to support the Forest Plan, and also as a vehicle to facilitate communication and cooperative efforts among researchers through distribution of the database on computer disk to participating researchers and other interested parties. The database contains project descriptions of research projects supporting ecosystem management on both forested and non-forested lands in the region. |
