Abstract This Record of Decision (ROD) documents the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) selection of a source control remedy for the Vega Alta Public Supply Wells Site. The major components of the selected remedy, identified in this document as Alternative 2, include: operation of a Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE) system to remove Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from soil until such time as VOCs can be no longer effectively removed. Soil vapors will be treated, if necessary, by thermal/catalytic oxidation or granular activated carbon (GAC) before being emitted to the atmosphere; implementation of a system monitoring program which includes the collection and analysis of soil vapors before and after they are treated, if treatment is determined to be necessary; and appropriate environmental monitoring to ensure the effectiveness of the remedy.
