| Abstract |
Limitations in the criteria for secondary standards in the publication 'Air Quality Criteria for Sulfur Oxides,' which became apparent since the adoption of Air Quality Standards, prompted review and revision of Chapter 5, 'Effects of Sulfur Oxides in the Atmosphere on Vegetation.' This document presents the revision to Chapter 5, and also includes revised portions of Chapter 10, 'Summary and Conclusions,' that relate to effects on vegetation. The document, based primarily on a thorough review of available literature, summarizes current scientific knowledge of air pollution effects by sulfur oxides upon vegetation and also points up the major deficiencies in that knowledge. |
