Abstract The Forest Response Program is a US Environmental Protection Agency and USDA Forest Service interagency research program on the effects of acidic deposition ('acid rain') on trees and forests. The program plans to use a diversity of models to accomplish several goals. Two primary goals are to understand the effects of sulfur and nitrogen deposition on trees and forests and to be able to predict the response of trees and forest to alternative deposition scenarios.
