Abstract |
Outbreaks of waterborne diseases continue to occur in this country contrary to the popular assumption that all our water supply problems are caused by chemical pollutants. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is developing revised drinking water regulations in response to the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Revising these regulations involves a comprehensive reassessment of the Interim Drinking Water Regulations established in 1976, plus a review of new information on health risk and engineering process controls to ensure a safe public water supply nationwide. The revisions will have an impact on monitoring procedures on site and in the laboratory. |
